The Samuel D. Ferguson Hall on Monday, April 14, 2025 was full of excitement with rich scorpion tradition of welcome by both staff and students where they overwhelmingly welcomed H E Ambassador Rosemary Mbabazi of the Republic of Rwanda and her delegation to the beautiful and clean campus of Cuttington University.

Headed by the President, Dr. Romelle A. The theme for the occasion was: Rwanda’s Journey from a dark past to a resilient nation. Speaking on the theme, the Ambassador emphasized the following main points: the nation experienced a painful history where the Tutsi minority was killed by the Hutsi Majority during their civil war.
According to the Ambassador, the road to recovery was not smooth, because many citizens resisted the type of systemic change introduced by the Government in a deliberate attempt to bring the nation back to “productive normalcy”: The Pride of Africa. To accomplish this, the government under the leadership of H E the President, Paul Kagame, adopted key pillars: Human Capacity Development, National Integration, Agriculture, Accountable Governance, etc. with the commitment from the Rwandan people, the nation was able to move from an almost fail state status to a prosperous nation (The Pride of Africa).
For her part, on behalf of the Administration of Cuttington University, the President of CU, Dr. Horton lauded the Ambassador and her team for selecting Cuttington University to be part of the itinerary while visiting Liberia. She expressed profound appreciation to the delegation, especially the Ambassador for her impactful impression she made on the audience, especially students who were extremely attentive and well behaved during the Ambassador’s presentation. She encouraged students to apply lessons articulated so brilliantly by the Ambassador in their daily professional journeys. Finally, Dr. Horton expressed her hope in establishing strong mutually beneficial collaborations between Rwanda and Cuttington University.
