Graduate Program Entry Requirements

Since 2004, Cuttington University has provided comprehensive, professional graduate programs in Education, Health Sciences, Business & Public Administration, and Theology. The structure of the programs requires course work and research. Each program is offered at the University’s Graduate campus on Tubman Boulevard, Sinkor.
The Master’s degree is intended:
1. To improve the skills of school administrators, theologians, nursing administrators and educators, business and public administrators by imparting in them the requisite knowledge to enhance their professional performance in their various work environments.
2. To develop curricula for educational, nursing, business and theological instructions. This will reflect and interpret the African experience in addition to offering opportunities in science and technology and international languages.
3. To provide opportunities for professional growth and development beyond the baccalaureate for those in education, nursing, business and theology professions within the Republic of Liberia and for

Total Credit Hours required for Master’s Program
Between 36 and 43 credit hours including thesis writing and internship for designated programs, will be required for the completion of master’s degree work. At least a “B” average in courses is required for graduation.

The purpose of these programs is to develop and equip educational leaders, nursing and business administrators and theologians with skills in managing educational nursing, business, and theological problems and in supervising instructional programs in Liberia and other parts of the world. Since a graduate degree by its very nature is research oriented, candidates for these degrees will study methodologies in collecting, interpreting, and using and applying research data in educational setting so that the quality of education in Liberia will be significantly improved.
General Objectives of the Graduate School
The master's degree is intended:

Cuttington Univeisty (CU) has, since 2004 launched comprehensive, professional graduate programs in Education, Nursing, Public Health, Business, Public Administration, and in Theology. The structure of the programs requires course work and research. The programs are based in Cuttington University Graduate School and Professional Studies building located in Sinkor adjacent to the Lonestar Cell Building on Tubman Boulevard in Monrovia.
The program in Business Administration offers relevant courses leading to the award of MBA degrees in the following: Accounting, Economics, Finance, Management and Marketing while the Public Administration program offers relevant courses leading to the award of MPA degrees in the following: Private Sector Management, Public Sector Management, and Local Government and Rural Development Administration.
The program in Education also offers relevant courses leading to the award of M.Sc. and M.A.T. degrees in Educational Administration and Supervision.
The graduate program in Nursing awards M.Sc. degree in Nursing Administration, Education and M.P.H degree.
The Theology Program awards and M.Th degree in Theology.
The approved professional graduate programs are designed to help the students develop the habits of orderly inquiry that will sustain their interest in learning beyond the formal experience of graduate study. The graduate experience will give students solid foundation leading to professional growth and development. Cuttington University Graduate School will achieve the broad goal by offering the following programs for national and international students:

M.A./M.Sc./M.B.A./M.P.A./M.TH. and M.P.H
Programs will normally consist of two (2 semesters of course work (nine months) including a project or thesis (three months).
Specific Objectives
The master's degree programs will enable candidates:

To articulate a Liberian philosophy of education and to demonstrate how this philosophy is reflected in curriculum planning and development.

To establish adequate and permanent arrangements for the in-service training of educators, nurses, business administrators and theologians.

To mount professional courses for heads of educational, nursing, business and theological institutions, and other auxiliary personnel.

To acquire relevant knowledge and skills in formulating specific objectives that reflects the aims of the Liberian education.

To develop both quantitative and qualitative research skills as well as ability to analyze and interpret research data and seek specific applications of research findings in Liberian educational settings.
